Crankshaft Repair and Dynamic Balancing for all Harley Davidson ® V-Twin applications.
Our crankshaft services can recondition and balance your crankshaft to better than new condition! Once your crankshaft arrives, we serialize, check current specs, take flywheels apart, check the rod journals for stress cracks and roundness.
If the rods are in good condition, we hone them to size. If the rods are in bad condition, we offer replacements (OE style or an upgraded h-beam style rods) rods.
The flywheels are reassembled with a new crank pin, connecting rod bearings and pressed together (Twin Cam). Evolution and older style crankshafts are treated the same and bolted together.
Once assembled, the crankshaft is trued up in a truing stand. The twin cam style crankshafts are plugged with a steel plug to create a better press within the pin to flywheels. They are then welded to insure stability.
If h-beam style connecting rods are added, the crankshaft will need to be balanced. This helps compensate for the additional weigh of the upgraded h-beam style connecting rods.
Dynamic crankshaft balancing service is offered to help remove unwanted vibration. As always, we use only the latest state of the art equipment, such as the ultra-high end Sunnen ® DB750 dynamic balancing machine. The pistons, pins, clips and ring weights are required for this procedure. If these weights are not provided, it will delay the work and extend the turn around time.
